Existence Results for Strongly Indefinite Elliptic Systems
In this paper, we show the existence of solutions for the strongly indefinite elliptic system −∆u = λu+ f(x, v) in Ω, −∆v = λv + g(x, u) in Ω, u = v = 0, on ∂Ω, where Ω is a bounded domain in RN (N ≥ 3) with smooth boundary, λk0 < λ < λk0+1, where λk is the kth eigenvalue of −∆ in Ω with zero Dirichlet boundary condition. Both cases when f, g being superlinear and asymptotically linear at infin...
متن کاملMinimal Fixing Systems for Convex Bodies
L. Fejes Tóth [1] introduced the notion of fixing system for a compact, convex body M ⊂ Rn. Such a system F ⊂ bd M stabilizes M with respect to translations. In particular, every minimal fixing system F is primitive, i.e., no proper subset of F is a fixing system. In [2] lower and upper bounds for cardinalities of mimimal fixing systems are indicated. Here we give an improved lower bound and sh...
متن کاملAffine surface area and convex bodies of elliptic type
If a convex body K in R is contained in a convex body L of elliptic type (a curvature image), then it is known that the affine surface area of K is not larger than the affine surface area of L. We prove that the affine surface areas of K and L can only be equal if K = L. 2010 Mathematics Subject Classification: primary 52A10; secondary 53A15
متن کاملThe Solvability of Concave-Convex Quasilinear Elliptic Systems Involving $p$-Laplacian and Critical Sobolev Exponent
In this work, we study the existence of non-trivial multiple solutions for a class of quasilinear elliptic systems equipped with concave-convex nonlinearities and critical growth terms in bounded domains. By using the variational method, especially Nehari manifold and Palais-Smale condition, we prove the existence and multiplicity results of positive solutions.
متن کاملStrongly Elliptic Systems and Boundary Integral Equations
Partial differential equations provide mathematical models of many important problems in the physical sciences and engineering. This book treats one class of such equations, concentrating on methods involving the use of surface potentials. It provides the first detailed exposition of the mathematical theory of boundary integral equations of the first kind on non-smooth domains. Included are cha...
